   About Me...

During the past  25 years I've focused on augmentative communication and assistive technology applications for people with disabilities. Along the way I've met so many wonderful people and had the privilege of working with amazing students, families, and professionals.  I've worked with students with learning disabilities, those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, students with severe physical and or cognitive disorders, challenging behaviors and children who are medically fragile.  During my employment at Crossroads Easter Seals in Indianapolis (1985-98) I developed their Augmentative Communication Program.   I was fortunate to have my efforts recognized when I was awarded with the ALPHA award which is presented by the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities to the outstanding direct service provider of the year.  I've also developed and taught courses for the School of Education at IUPUI - Indianapolis Campus.

Currently I am the Assistive Technology Coordinator and AAC Specialist for 6 school corporations in East Central Indiana.  I also provide assistive technology consultations and evaluations through Children's Resource Group, a private practice of educational psychologists, psychiatrists, and educational specialists in Indianapolis.  In addition, I provide staff development and training opportunities locally and nationally.   I honestly can't imagine doing anything else!

My philosophy on training others:

  •  everyone will leave one of my trainings with at least one new idea they can implement that day.

  • everyone will leave with tons of ideas they can implement in the week following the presentation and many, many more for the future.

  • everyone will have had fun!
